Organization
The American Institute of Architects Sierra
Valley (AIASV) is non-profit association, which is part of
the American Institute of Architects (AIA), a national organization
based in Washington D.C. Within California, the AIA California
Council (AIACC), the California component of the AIA, has
21 local chapters, which are set-up geographically to serve
the local needs of Architects and the community, with over
9,000 members statewide. The AIASV has over 70 Architects,
and associates (pre-licensed), as well as industry professionals
serving the architectural community.
Our Chapter
The AIASV has a long record of service within
the local communities, and still continues to provide connection
for Architects between statewide issues and national concerns
for the AIA, which is constantly striving to improve the profession
of Architecture. The AIASV includes the counties of San Joaquin,
Stanislaus, and Inyo and serves the communities of Stockton,
Lodi, Tracy, Manteca, Modesto, Turlock, and Sonora to name
a few. The AIASV serves the needs of its members, within the
structure of chapter bylaws and a Board of Directors. The
Board of Directors has nine members including a President
(1 year term), Vice-president (1 year term), Secretary and
Treasurer (2 year terms each), five directors, including an
Associate Director, Affiliate Director and an AIA California
Council Director. The Board has bi-monthly meeting and is
open to all members.
Chapter Events
The Board organizes many events throughout the
year that allows architects to learn new products and techniques,
network, and provide continuing education, a requirement for
all membership of the AIA. These events occur bi-monthly right
after the Board meeting the second Thursday of the month,
starting in February. Other events held for the benefit of
the membership include a golf tournament and every two years,
an awards program.
Professionalism
By working with an architect that is a member
of the AIA (denoted by the AIA after an architects name),
you will be assured that they practice architecture under
a required Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct that assures
clients and the community, their dedication to high standards
of professionalism. The organization requires architects to
continue to learn within their profession, and many AIASV
members serve the community as well by volunteering or holding
public office.
