The American Institute of Architects, founded over 125 years ago, is the largest and most influential professional association for architect, interns and those directly involved with the practice of architecture in the world. Based in Washington D.C, the AIA has over 300 state and local chapters representing over 62,000 members.

The AIA Sierra Valley chapter covers San Joaquin, Calaveras, Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Merced, Mariposa and Inyo counties. The Sierra Valley AIA has over 70 Architects, and associates, as well as industry professionals serving the architectural community.
