We can provide the resources and tools to help meet your professional challenges, whether you are a student, an intern, an architect working alone, a principal in a larger firm, a government employee, or a corporate architect.

The Institute has been advancing the value of architects and architecture for more than 135 years through AIA member resources and as the collective voice of the profession. Here are some of the benefits that enhance the professional and competitive position of AIA members and their chosen profession, architecture:

Professional Network. As an AIA member, you're part of a powerful network of architectural professionals.

Professional Interest Areas (PIAs). AIA national developed PIAs to provide access to in-depth information, services, and a network of knowledge on topics such as health-care facilities, the environment, historic resources, housing, educational facilities, building codes and standards, computers, and much more.

Government Affairs. AIA Sierra Valley, represent architects at the local, state, and federal levels respectively, in government decisions that affect professional practice and the quality of our built environment.

AIA National Library and Archives. This valued AIA resource is the nation's preeminent source for information on the practice and profession of architecture. It includes extensive information in books, slides, and videotapes that can be borrowed on request.

Liability Resources. The AIA works to ensure that contracts and insurance are available for all AIA members. For example, the AIA now offers a small-firm professional liability insurance program and small-project contract documents.

Professional Development Courses. AIA Sierra Valley, AIACC, and AIA national continuously sponsor tours, seminars, workshops, and multi-media programs to help improve members' skills and profitability.

Contracts and Forms. Contract documents developed and revised by the AIA are the model for the design and construction industry.

Peer Review Program. In conjunction with the American Society of Consulting Engineers, the AIA sponsors a program in which noncompeting peers examine your firm's operations and give an objective, confidential assessment of how you're doing.

Awards Programs. AIA Sierra Valley, AIACC and AIA national all sponsor awards programs. This provides an opportunity to recognize excellence and cultivate an ever-growing audience for good design.

AIA Designation. By displaying "AIA" after their names, members identify themselves as leaders in the profession, representing the integrity and professionalism of The American Institute of Architects.
