The future of Green Design

Members of the AIASV attended a lecture at the new David Brower Center as part of the UC Berkeley architecture lecture series. THe Brower center is a mixed-use complex consisting of environmental activist offices, art galleries, retail space, underground parking, and low-income housing. Every aspect of the building was designed with the environment in mind. The goal of this project was to achieve LEED Platinum Rating for the development. The design team used the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method to synthesize building environmental systems, structure, and function into a cohesive design. They hope that thedelivery method and system innovations developed for this project will be a model for how we build in the future. For more information you can visit www.browercenter.org
